Affiliate disclosure
Affiliate and advertising disclosure
Last updated 3 November 2026. We earn money in two ways: Amazon affiliate links and display ads from Google AdSense. In the words Amazon’s program requires: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This page says what both mean here.
What an affiliate link is
Some pages on USGrowersGuide.com link to amazon.com. Those links carry a tag that identifies us. If you click one and buy something on Amazon within the time Amazon allows, Amazon pays us a small commission. The price you pay is the same whether you use the link or not.
Which pages carry one
The four planting tools, the state pages, the holiday plant pages, some
shrub, flower, bulb, vegetable and fruit pages, some winter planning guides, the bulb-forcing guide, the lawn guides, the pruning guides, the hydrangea guides, the Christmas cactus propagation guide, the poinsettia guides, the tomato fertilizer guide and the gift guide for gardeners. On every one of them this
same disclosure is written above the first link. Each link carries rel="sponsored", which
tells search engines it is a paid link, and opens in a new tab.
The holiday plants and pets page carries none, and no legal page does.
What the links point at
Every link opens an Amazon search for a plain kind of product, such as a tree stand with a large water reservoir or a bag of cactus potting mix, never a single product we picked. We have not tested any of these products and do not rank, rate or endorse them, and we show no prices or star ratings, because those change on Amazon and we cannot keep them true. The search shows you Amazon’s current choices, and you decide.
A link appears only where the page’s own advice already names the thing it searches for: a saucer under a poinsettia because UF/IFAS says to use one, a stand that holds a gallon because Illinois Extension says a tree needs that much. The gift guide is the one page whose purpose is the links; each item there still names the guide or tool here it goes with.
Display ads
We also show display ads through Google AdSense. Google chooses which ads appear; we do not pick the advertisers and do not endorse them. The tools and the state pages carry a few fixed ad boxes, and on every page except the ones named next, Google may add a bar at the bottom of the screen or ads at the side on wide screens. The privacy policy, the terms, this page and the error page carry no ads. We are paid for ads shown and clicked; you pay nothing.
An ad is never part of the advice. It sits in a box or bar of its own, and nothing on a page is written to send you to one.
What the money does not change
Nothing else on the site. The freeze dates come from NOAA’s climate normals and the zones from the USDA map, and the growing advice is quoted from named university extension services. None of it is chosen, ordered or worded to sell anything, and none of it moves for a product or an advertiser.
Your data
Clicking an Amazon link takes you to amazon.com, which sets its own cookies and follows its own privacy policy. Google and its advertising partners set their own cookies to choose and count ads. The privacy policy says what both mean and what we do and do not learn.
